By Aiden ArmstrongConvenient student housing by UAB is available, but consider the management, room layouts, and extracurricular activities when selecting an apartment. Some complexes offer top-quality student-friendly setups.
Apartment
Whether you only need one bedroom or you are looking for something bigger, there is off-campus housing to suit your needs. You can find units with private bathrooms attached to each bedroom. There are furnished studios, two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments. The typical furnishings in a bedroom inside student-geared housing are a full-size bed, study desk and chair, and dresser. The living space should have a couch, lounge chair, table, and TV stand. For added convenience, look for an in-unit washer and dryer.
Management
An on-site property manager means you can quickly contact someone if you have an issue with your apartment. Some managers put together in-house social activities also. Many landlords configured their buildings to meet students’ school and social needs.
Extras
If you rent a place that offers a 24-hour gym, it will be easier to stay in shape, and a pool will help you stay cool and relaxed. Some establishments maintain business centers and on-site study rooms for their tenants. It is a bonus if you can walk to campus. If you are bringing a car, find out about parking garages.
Security
When living with multiple roommates, ensure each bedroom has a private key. The entries to the building should have controlled access. The manager or a community officer might patrol the grounds.
