By Aiden ArmstrongIf you have children, there are 4 kids safety tips for families with home elevators that you must follow. Using these safety rules will help you protect the equipment while ensuring everyone in your family can use the elevator safely. In addition, you can add more safety rules to help your family avoid accidental injuries.
Always Ride with Your Child
One of the first rules you should make after installing a house elevator in NJ is to make sure your kids never ride the elevator without an adult. If you can’t ride with them, make sure another adult accompanies them. This is especially important for younger children since they won’t know how to respond if the elevator stalls or exhibits another type of malfunction.
Prohibit Jumping and Rough Play
4 kids safety tips for families with home elevators should always include teaching your children how to act while in the elevator. Rough play and jumping can damage the elevator’s components, resulting in an immediate malfunction. It can also result in injuries that may be difficult to treat in the confined space.
Always Close the Doors
Your house elevator in NJ will probably have automatic doors, but you should still teach your children to check the door and gate. After exiting the elevator cab, make sure the door and gate close properly. This is especially important if the unit has a manual gate. Teaching your children to make sure the gate closes will prevent falls and serious injuries.
Add Safety Tape and Keep Your Children Behind the Line
Although the door won’t fully close if the safety sensor is blocked, small fingers won’t create a significant obstruction. Prevent crushed fingers by adding yellow safety tape to the floor inside the cab. Instruct your children to stand behind the yellow line to ensure they won’t get caught in the door as it closes.
