By Aiden ArmstrongIf you are installing your solar panels yourself, then chances are you are not spending tens of thousands of dollars on a whole home system, but that does not mean you want to just throw them on your roof. Making sure that your panels are oriented properly and mounted securely and your panels will give you the maximum power and last a long time. If you do not want to install them yourself, then you can call one of the New Jersey solar panels installation companies or one in your area. For those of you willing to try, here are a few things to keep in mind.
Check Your Solar Window
The amount of time the sun is directly on your window is your solar window. If your solar window is not long enough, then it may not be worth it to invest in solar panels if they must be on your roof. The biggest thing here is that the panels should face south for the best exposure. If there is nowhere on your roof, then you may be able to place them in your yard.
Improve Efficiency
If you want to minimize your power bill and carbon footprint, then you need to not only increase your solar power production but also improve efficiency. By doing this, you are saving power and making it easier to be self-reliant instead of getting power from the electric company.
Make Sure Your Roof Is New Enough
Make sure your roof is new enough that it is not going to have to be replaced in the next few years. If you have to remove your solar panels in a few years to replace the roof, then you are just going to be wasting time if you could have placed them somewhere else.
If you decide to invest in solar panels, then the best way to make sure you get the most out of your panels is to make sure they are facing south and are in the sun for several hours a day.
