Steps to Getting Low-Income Housing for Your Family in Kamloops

Non-profit organization By Aiden Armstrong 2 min read

Even after working a 40-hour job, you might not have the budget to rent or buy a large home or one that is attached to a high monthly payment. There are usually low-income options for houses and apartments depending on the space that you need for your family. Here are a few ways that you can qualify for this housing option.

Talk to a Professional

The first step that you need to take to secure low income housing in Kamloops is to meet with someone from the Department of Social Services or a housing manager. You’ll need to provide proof of your income and why you’re unable to afford housing. Once all of these details are discussed, you can begin the next step of determining how much you can afford and what you need to do to obtain a home.

Find Housing

After you’ve been approved for housing, you can start looking for a home or an apartment for your family. There are several online resources so that you can easily compare rental amounts and the features that are available with each home. Submit an application for the homes that you’re interested in as well as information for the housing manager to view.

Moving Into Your Home

When you’ve been approved for low income housing in Kamloops, you can begin moving your belongings into the house. The housing manager will usually give you information about vouchers or other forms of payment for the assistance that you’ll receive. If there are any changes in your income, you need to alert the office so that your application can be updated.
