By Aiden ArmstrongKnife Enthusiasts Look for New Out-the-Front and Flipper Blade OptionsWhen someone first starts a collection of fine blades, there’s a good chance that they’ll accept more or less any new piece into the growing number of knives that they’re keeping around. Eventually, they’re going to want to look at only the best automatic knives for sale when they seek to add something new to their collection. When this happens, there’s a good chance they’ll more or less restrict themselves to one of two types of designs.
Since their blades eject directly out of the handle, OTF knives are the ideal option for outdoor enthusiasts and technicians who might not have a lot of space to open a larger knife. They’re also a great choice for those who might have mobility issues or need a knife that they can open with an absolute minimum of a moment. They’re some of the best automatic knives for sale for anyone who finds themselves in either of these situations.
Flipper blades are the other big option, in addition to OTF knives, that collectors might want to look into before they make a choice. These are automatic blades that open up at the touch of a button. They usually rely on a strong string that biases the entire blade toward being open. When the user pushes a switch, the handle releases a catch that swings the blade into place. Most designs allow users to configure their blades by turning a single screw.
