Different Types of Alcohol Addiction Programs

by | Jul 15, 2016 | Health

Alcohol rehabilitation centers usually have two types of programs: inpatient and outpatient.

In-Patient and Outpatient

An inpatient rehab program requires you to stay in the treatment facility for the duration of your treatment. An outpatient one allows you to go home while you attend counseling and weekly therapy sessions.

Then there’s the third type, which is a mix of the two: you have a certain required number of hours you need to spend at the facility but you won’t have to stay there afterwards. That means you’re free to go home when your treatment is over for the day.

Sober Living

Other types of alcohol addiction programs in Delray Beach also include Sober Living, says Help guide. This works the same way as an inpatient program, which is also known as residential rehab treatment. This time around, though, you live in a community with other recovering alcoholics. The experience is thought to provide a supportive environment, one without drugs or alcohol, to help you deal with any lingering fears or in case you aren’t emotionally ready to go back outside. It usually follows an intensive residential treatment.

Brief Intervention

Brief intervention, on the other hand, is specifically designed to help people who might be at risk of succumbing to alcohol abuse. If you think you’re in a downward spiral, if you’ve noticed that you’re drinking more and more, or if you feel like the addiction is beginning and you can’t seem to pull back and stop, then these are all good signs to start going for this treatment.

Advantage

The advantages of various addiction programs is that they provide those who are at risk or those who have already developed drug abuse symptoms to seek out any form of necessary assistance. By addressing the different needs of a range of alcoholics, these treatments are able to help them recover and live a drug-free life.
