By Aiden ArmstrongWhen building a new home, there are a lot of decisions you will have to make. One of the most important ones is what building contractor you are going to use. Having the right one can make all the difference in how smoothly the home building process goes.
Here are just a few of the most important questions to ask before hiring building contractors in North Port, FL.
Are You Licensed for This Kind of Work?
Perhaps the most important question that you can ask when hiring building contractors in North Port, FL is whether they are licensed for the work they are performing. Before signing any contract with a company such as Reese Homes, ask to see a copy of the license. You want to look it over so you can verify that it is still valid.
You can also check with the State of Florida Licensing Board to determine if the contractor is in good standing with the state.
What Subcontractors Are You Using?
Most general contractors do not have the experience or the staff required to complete every aspect of a home build. It is pretty standard for general contractors to use subcontractors for different parts of the job, including plumbing, heating and cooling, and more.
As a customer, you can ask them what subcontractors they work with and what jobs they will be contracting out to other companies. Once you obtain this information, you can look into the various subcontractors to ensure that they have the proper licenses and credentials needed to do the job correctly.
